TotalPond Water Treatments

TotalPond® Water Treatments are designed to be used in ponds that have fish and other pond life and are safe for birds and other local wildlife to drink from. It’s essential to choose the right water treatment for your pond to help make sure you solve the problem as quickly as possible. Water treatments have different concentrations and strengths; a capful of one may be stronger than a capful of another. Following the dosing instructions for each water treatment accurately will ensure that the product works properly and is safe for your pond critters.

Performing a water test helps give insight into what’s happening beneath the surface of your pond. Learn more about water quality.

Aeration Tip! Especially in warm weather, before using water treatments make sure the pond has strong constant, vigorous aeration - i.e., a fountain, waterfall, or other aeration devices to avoid fish loss due to low oxygen levels. Do not shut pond pumps and aeration devices off at night. Learn more about aeration.

Overcrowding Tip! Ensure your fish are not overcrowded. Knowing how many fish should live in your pond can be confusing but there are a few ways to calculate the perfect amount. Learn more about overcrowding.

Chlorine Remover Plus

WHEN: Use when adding water or introducing new fish to the pond. Also use when opening your pond in spring, during spring, and when closing in winter.

WHY: Removes chlorine with natural botanical extracts that also help with improving fish slime coat and reducing infections.

DOSAGE: Use one capful (5 ml) for every 20 gallons of water in your pond. One 16 oz. bottle treats 1,930 gallons.

DIRECTIONS: Apply directly to the pond water around the perimeter or near the pump or filter intake to move product throughout the water column. Dosage can be doubled for startup treatments or in times of fish stress. When introducing new fish to your pond, use standard dosing to provide optimal water conditions for pond fish transition. Note: must be applied at least 24 hours before fish are introduced to the pond.

Water Clarifier

WHEN: Use when you have cloudy water.

WHY: Quickly clears water and eliminates floating particles.

DOSAGE: Apply one capful (5 ml) per 10 gallons of water. Half a cup (4 oz.) treats 240 gallons and 1 cup (8 oz.) treats 480 gallons of water.

DIRECTIONS: Shake well before use. Once applied, allow water to circulate for several hours before applying any additional dosages.

TIP! For the best results, use 48 hours before Sludge Remover.

Sludge Remover

WHEN: To help reduce maintenance and control sludge. Utilize when opening your pond, during the spring season and when closing your pond.

WHY: Improves filter efficiency, maintains a healthy eco-system and helps reduce organic build up on the bottom of the pond.

DOSAGE: Add one cap-full (5 ml) per 10 gallons of water every two weeks once water temperatures are above 50°F. Half a cup (4 oz.) treats 240 gallons and 1 cup (8 oz.) treats 480 gallons of water.

DIRECTIONS: Shake well before use. The first application of the year should be double the above-recommended dosage. If an ultraviolet clarifier is present, turn it off before each dosage and leave it off for 5 days after each dosage. Discontinue dosing once water temperatures are below 50°F.

TIP! For the best results, use 48 hours after Water Clarifier.

Barley Pond Clarifier

WHEN: Use when pond water is murky.

WHY: Natural solution to help minimize the nutrient load.

DOSAGE: For initial dose, add half a cup (4 oz.) per 600 gallons. One cap (5ml) treats 40 gallons.

DIRECTIONS: Once per month, apply a maintenance dose of 1 oz. per 150 gallons.

TIP! Can also be used in fountains.

Pond Cleaner Tablets

WHEN: Use when pond water is murky.

WHY: Boosts beneficial bacteria, keeps water clean, clear and healthy by reducing organic loads in the water.

DOSAGE: Add one tablet per 200 gallons directly to pond or water garden.

DIRECTIONS: Reapply one tablet per 200 gallons every two weeks while water temperature is above 50°F. Although tablet is dissolved, product continues to clean water up to two weeks.

Pond Blue

WHEN: As needed.

WHY: Creates beautiful blue water, hides fish from predators and shades water from harmful UV rays.

DOSAGE: add one cap-full (5 ml) per 40 gallons of pond capacity to one gallon bucket of pond water.

DIRECTIONS: Shake the bottle well. Gently stir and pour this mixture into the pond at several points around the pond edge. Wait five minutes for the blue to disperse. Re-treat if a darker tint is desired. When the pond loses its blue coloration, re-treat the pond.

Important Note: Don’t forget to use gloves, pond tint may stain your skin.

Mosquito Treatment

WHEN: In the summer months when mosquitoes thrive.

WHY: Quickly controls mosquito larvae in 24 hours.

DOSAGE: 1 pouch, 0.2 oz. will treat up to 50 sq. ft. of water surface (an area of approximately 7 ft. x 7 ft.).

DIRECTIONS: When treating larger areas, distribute uniformly on the water surface to ensure adequate dispersion of the granules. A lower rate (1 pouch, 0.2 oz./50 sq. ft.) can be used in clear water, against low larval infestations or young larvae (from egg hatch to mid-third instar). When larger larvae (late third instar to early fourth instar) predominate, larval populations are high, or water is polluted and/or algae are prevalent, use the higher rate of 2 pouches, 0.4 oz. per 50 sq. ft.

Algaecide

WHEN: Use when green water or algae appear.

WHY: Eliminates existing algae growth.

DOSAGE: Add 1 tsp (5ml) treats for every 50 gallons of pond/fountain water.

DIRECTIONS: Thoroughly mix Algaecide into pond/fountain by adding near the pump outflow, waterfall or aeration device. Algaecide can be mixed in a bucket of pond/fountain water. Repeat dose every three days until algae is controlled. Be prepared to siphon out dead filamentous algae. Once algae growth is under control, add one dose every 5 days. Weekly doses of Algaecide will control growth and reduce pond/fountain maintenance.

IMPORTANT! Adequate aeration is required when using Algaecide during warm summer months. Do not shut pond pumps and aeration devices off at night.

TIP! Read the labels carefully before applying Algaecide to your water feature. This product should only be used for existing algae. Contact us with any questions if you are unsure.
